About Our School
Letter from Our Head of School
Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA), a tuition-free program of the following school districts: Bland, Bristol, Giles, King and Queen, Norton, Patrick, Radford, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, and Wise. VAVA makes it easy for you to be an active participant in your child's education. VAVA students benefit from the engaging, interactive Stride K12 online curriculum and offline materials, which include textbooks and other instructional resources, and the guidance and support of Virginia-licensed teachers. In short, we provide students the elements for an excellent education in our forward-thinking approach to learning.
Because Virginia Virtual Academy is a statewide program of multiple public-school districts, students are required to participate in state-mandated, standardized achievement tests to demonstrate their understanding of content and academic progress. Achievement measures such as state testing are important to us as we work to ensure that each of our students is excelling in their academic pursuits.
We strive to create a balanced education approach that provides the support and student-centered focus required to meet the needs of unique and individual learners. We also work to strengthen our learning community through age-appropriate school outings to museums, roller- and ice-skating parks, local zoos, and other interesting and enjoyable field trip locations. Events like these bring families together and create real connections in the VAVA community, while providing enriching opportunities that complement our students' curricular interests.
We are very proud of our students' successes and the support system we have in place for them through our outstanding parents, faculty, and community. VAVA students continue to excel as learners in an age of technology, and we believe that our school provides an excellent choice for families who are interested in being actively involved in their children's education. We hope to welcome you soon to the Virginia Virtual Academy community.
