Meet the VAVA winners of the 2024 K12 Game On Competition!

Two of our talented students from Virginia Virtual Academy – a brother and sister duo – were recently recognized as a Judges’ Choice winner and a People’s Choice winner in the 2024 K12 Game On Competition!
Nicole (Coco) is a 3rd grade student, who won first place in the 3-5 category and was awarded the Judges’ Choice Award for her game Rhythmic Fractions, which challenges the player to collect, add and subtract fractions. Once you’ve collected correct fractions, a character will play these numbers on a violin. 🎥 Watch her winning game trailer below:
Not only does Coco love math, but she also has a love of reading. According to her mother, Coco always has a book in her hand and is currently turning all the pages on the American Girl book series.
Her brother, Nathaniel (Nate) is in 1st grade and won the People’s Choice Award in the K-2 category for his game My Cats Know Math, where cats use balls of yarn to solve addition, subtraction or multiplication problems.
Nate loves math, science and … cats! So much so, he incorporated both of the family cats in his game. 🎥 Watch his winning game trailer below:
A huge congratulations to Coco and Nate—and to all the incredible students who participated in this year’s competition. Your creativity and hard work continue to inspire!
